Miami Spice is offering more than fixed-price menus this year. Here’s what’s new

In case the face-melting heat hasn’t tipped you off, summer has taken its cruel hold on Miami.

But as always, there’s one reason to welcome the hottest season: Miami Spice begins Aug. 1.

The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau sponsors the annual dining promotion, during which local restaurants offer fixed price brunch, lunch and dinner menus. The idea is that locals and tourists alike can check out some of the more expensive and heralded restaurants at a reduced price.

So far, 150 restaurants have signed up for this year’s program, with more expected to join. Participating restaurants include Michelin-star winners Cote Miami and Le Jardinier, both in Miami’s Design District, as well as high-profile favorites and Michelin-recommended spots such as Fiola Miami in Coral Gables; Leku at the Rubell Museum in Allapattah; Pao by Paul Qui at Faena Miami Beach; Brasserie Laurel from Michael Beltran in downtown Miami; and Jeremy Ford’s Beauty and the Butcher in Coral Gables.

You can see a full list of restaurants, menus and offerings at www.miamiandbeaches.com/deals/temptations/spice-restaurant-months. You can also search by neighborhood, cuisine and whether or not a restaurant is Michelin recommended.

Lunch and brunch options have increased slightly this year, from $28 to $30-$35, while dinner options cost $45 or $60, the same as last year.

New this year for some restaurants are “Signature Dining Experiences” that go beyond the basic prix fixe, three-course menus. For example, Orno in Coral Gables, led by Chef Niven Patel, will offer a chef counter experience at which guests can enjoy a tasting menu and interact with the chefs behind the counter ($95), while Santorini by Georgios at the Hilton Bentley in Miami Beach will offer “The Greek Experience” that allows guests can enjoy a special menu of the restaurant’s most notable entrees and appetizers ($75).

The Miami Spice menus will run through Sept. 30, 2023.

David Whitaker, president and CEO of the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, said in a statement that the Miami Spice promotion is a great way for locals and visitors to experience the best of Miami restaurants.

“Year after year, Greater Miami and Miami Beach continues to cement itself as a culinary epicenter with national recognition, award-winning restaurants, and a diverse selection of international and local cuisine,” he said.
