Mich. participants helped vaccine trial diversity

Officials say Henry Ford Health System in Michigan was a key site for enrolling minority volunteers for Moderna vaccine trial. (Nov. 16)

MELANIE IVERSON: So we ended up with over 10% participants from the African-American community and over 20% of the participants from our Hispanic and Latinx community in the study. And in particular, the Henry Ford health system site did an incredible job at recruiting. Over 9% of the participants that they recruited were from the African-American community. Just under 8% were from the Hispanic community.

KELLIE MCFARLIN: To have diversity in the trial was really important to me to know that the results could be reflective and used for the community that I serve and live in.
