Michael Bolton, fresh off 'American Song Contest,' sings at Mohegan Sun

May 4—Michael Bolton has been enjoying a rather successful run on the TV show "American Song Contest," a competition series in which singer/songwriters from each state perform a new tune. Bolton, who grew up in New Haven and has lived in Westport for years, represents Connecticut.

He sang "Beautiful World," with lyrics about the importance of kindness, and he was sent on through to the semi-finals thanks to viewers' votes. And then he made it to the finale that's scheduled for Monday.

In the meantime, Bolton will be performing in concert Friday at Mohegan Sun.

I'm familiar with Bolton's own hits, but I hadn't realized what a wide range of stars he has written with, from Lady Gaga to Bob Dylan. That's right — Dylan!
