Michael Grady, ex-Pacers PA voice & Indy radio host, is new Timberwolves play-by-play man

Michael Grady began his career in Indianapolis and became the Pacers public address announcer and cohost of a popular sports talk show on 1070 and 107.5 The Fan, in addition to being a sports reporter and anchor for WRTV-6. In 2017, he left Indianapolis for Brooklyn to join YES Network as a Brooklyn Nets sideline reporter, pregame and postgame host and occasional play-by-play man.

His next move takes him to Minnesota, where he will replace Dave Benz as the Timberwolves' play-by-play man on Bally Sports North.

“I know the fan base already has a sense of excitement about what this team can be, and I’m excited about fanning that flame,” Grady told The Athletic. “I’m excited to be a part of this community. That means a lot to me.”

Grady's roots are in Indianapolis. He remembers getting former Indianapolis Colt Eric Dickerson's autograph. He remembers watching Reggie Miller score 25 points in the fourth quarter in Madison Square Garden. He was part of Warren Central's radio program and went to Vincennes University for a broadcasting degree. He worked Saturday shifts at WIBC to get his foot in the door professionally, then helped launch 1070 The Fan. In 2011, he began working with former Colts player Joe Staysniak on the "Grady & Big Joe" show, where he was a cohost until 2019.
