Michael J Fox candidly reflects on challenges of living with Parkinson's disease

Michael J. Fox has opened up about the increasing challenges he faces with Parkinson's disease.
As reported by Deadline, Fox spoke to journalist Jane Pauley for CBS Mornings in an interview that is set to be aired today (Sunday April 30). Pauley asked the activist and actor, who starred in Back to the Future and The Good Wife, amongst others, "At some point Parkinson’s going to call for you, isn’t it?"
Fox replied: "Yeah, it’s banging on the door. I mean, I’m not going to lie, it’s going to hurt."

Fox said that the disease is "getting tougher; every day it gets tougher. But, that’s the way it is and who do I see about that?"
"You don’t die from Parkinson’s. You die with Parkinson’s. So I’ve been thinking about the mortality of it. I’m not gonna be 80. I’m not gonna be 80," Fox said.
Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1991 when he was aged just 29. He set up a foundation in 2000 that aims to find a cure for the disease. The foundation has raised over $1 billion towards research projects so far.

However, he still managed to continue working on screen until 2020, when he retired. His most recent movie, Still: A Michael J Fox Movie, is a documentary that explores his experiences with life with Parkinson's. The documentary was well-received and earned a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Variety's review states: "[Director David] Guggenheim is the ideal interviewer for the task, asking sincere yet sensitive questions that yield candid answers."
"He and Harte do something else remarkable: They hold on Fox, including footage most editors would cut in which the actor appears vulnerable in the space between sound bites."
Still: A Michael J Fox Movie will come to Apple TV+ later this year.
