Michael Jordan named cover athlete for NBA 2K23 special edition

Former UNC basketball and Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan is returning to the video game world.

On Tuesday, 2KSports announced that Jordan would grace the cover of a special edition for NBA 2K23 that releases later this year. Jordan will be featured on both the NBA 2K23 Michael Jordan Edition and the ultra-premium NBA 2K23 Championship Edition. Both will cost more than the standard version of the game but will include bonus features. The Championship Edition is new for this year.

Jordan graced the cover for NBA 2K11 and NBA 2K12 as the company included a special feature in the game featuring challenges that highlight moment’s from the GOAT’s career in the NBA. Users can expect the same thing for this version but with different challenges.

Included with the Championship Edition is a subscription to NBA League Pass, allowing users to watch NBA games throughout the year.

“After making 23 the most recognizable number in sports, it was only fitting that for NBA 2K23 we introduce the Michael Jordan Edition,” said Alfie Brody, Vice President of Global Marketing Strategy for NBA 2K. “Additionally, we’re thrilled to introduce a brand new premium edition of the game with the NBA 2K23 Championship Edition, as no other player embodies the word ‘champion’ like Jordan.”

You can preorder NBA 2K23 starting on July 7th.
