Cincinnati Bengals offensive lineman Michael Jordan has decided to break his silence about the breakdown last season that led to the season-ending injury to quarterback Joe Burrow.

Jordan, at the time trying to establish himself as a long-term starter at guard, got pushed back into the pocket by Washington’s Jonathan Allen at the same time another defender came around the edge to meet at Burrow.

The former Ohio State standout says the play hasn’t left his mind since.

“I took it really personal,” Jordan said, according to Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic. “It took me about a week to get out of my own head.”

Jordan went on to explain how the breakdown has impacted him and Burrow:

“First thing I did was I apologized to Joe. I told him he was not going to hear any more words from me. Just actions. I can tell him I’m going to do better. He doesn’t want to hear that. He wants to see it. I’ll prove what I’m saying and my convictions this upcoming season. Not a whole lot of talking; I’m just going to show it.”

From here, Jordan will have to compete with the likes of Quinton Spain and Xavier Su’a-Filo for a starting gig now that second-round pick Jackson Carman has a lock on one starting job.

The road for Jordan isn’t impossible though given his upside and the return of line coach Frank Pollack. Add in the edge from this and Burrow motivating him and Jordan might not be done writing his pro story just yet.
