Michael Lane wins Professional Bull Riders Velocity Tour event at Santander Arena

Feb. 11—Michael Lane took home the victory in the Professional Bull Riders Velocity Tour event on Saturday night at Santander Arena.

After scoring an 85.5 in the opening round on Friday night, Lane earned an 85 in the second round with his ride of Game Day. The 170.5 aggregate score proved to be enough, as none of the 10 finalists completed qualified, eight-second rides in the third round.

"To be standing here right now means the world to me," Lane told the PBR during his post-event interview. "Thank you people of Reading, PA. Without y'all, we wouldn't be able to go up and down the road doing what we truly love. All glory to God."

With his first win on the Velocity Tour this season, Lane is now third in the points standings. From Tazewell, Virginia, Lane, 33, has won nine Velocity Tour events in his career, the most of any rider.

"Each and every day, you go to put in the work," Lane said. "People see you winning right now, but (they don't see) all the work that I've been putting in all week, all year."

After scoring an 84.5 in the first round on Friday night, Tyler Manor of Portland, Indiana scored a 77.5 with his ride of Blaze in the second round. With 162 aggregate points, Manor finished in second place.

The final night of the two-night event proved very difficult for the riders, as only four of the 34 competitors completed eight-second, qualified rides on Saturday. With no riders scoring in the finals, Lane and Manor were the only two who finished with over 100 aggregate points.

Schuylkill County native, Blue Mountain graduate and defending event winner Grayson Cole finished tied for fourth with 86.5 points, all of which he earned on Friday night. On Saturday night, Cole fell short of completing qualified rides in the second round atop Trinity and in the final round atop Dirty Deeds.
