A trip to the beach was in order to celebrate the momentous occasion.

Former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama are celebrating 30 years of marriage with a trip to the beach, which they shared with their followers in sweet Instagram posts dedicated to each other.

The two met in 1989 when they were working at the same law firm, and married in Chicago in 1992, and between two daughters and a presidency, they've been through quite a lot together.

"Happy anniversary to the man I love! These last 30 years have been an adventure, and I’m grateful to have you by my side. Here’s to a lifetime together. I love you, @BarackObama! ❤️😘," Michelle wrote earlier today, sharing a carousel of photos alongside it.

The first photo showed the two of them standing barefoot on the beach, smiling at the camera. The next featured a heart drawn in the sand around their names, "Barack + Michelle," with the ocean in the background, and the third was a black and white shot of the two on the day of their wedding.

The politician shared a photoset of his own, joking, "Miche, After 30 years, I’m not sure why you look exactly the same and I don’t." He went on to say, "I do know that I won the lottery that day—that I couldn’t have asked for a better life partner. Happy anniversary, sweetheart!" He shared a photo from the beach as well, mountains in the background as the two sat on a rocky ledge. He also shared a photo of the heart in the sand, and a different shot from their wedding day.

Followers were quick to send their own messages of love and support for the milestone date.

"Happy Anniversary to our favs 💙💙💙," The Obama Foundation wrote on one post, calling them "#goals" on the other.

NYT bestseller Valerie B. Jarrett wrote in part, "Happy anniversary! May your next 30 years be even better…"

And of course, the happy couple sent love to each other in their comments, as well, in the form of red heart emojis.
