Michelle Troconis sobs as police interview about Jennifer Dulos’s death played at trial: Updates

Michelle Troconis is facing trial in Stamford, Connecticut for her alleged role in helping her lover Fotis Dulos conceal the murder of his estranged wife and mother of his five children, Jennifer Dulos.

At the time of her disappearance in May 2019, Jennifer – whose remains have never been found – was in the midst of a bitter divorce and custody battle with Dulos. Investigators believe Fotis killed her in the garage of her home and that Ms Troconis, Fotis’ then-girlfriend, helped him cover up the murder.

On Thursday, Ms Troconis broke down in tears in the courtroom as jurors were shown her first interview with police following Jennifer’s disappearance.

In the footage, she is heard claiming that she and Dulos were staying together that morning, and that he woke up in her presence and got in the shower with her.

Earlier in the week, jurors saw a bloodstained long-sleeve, striped Vineyard Vines shirt that Jennifer is believed to have been wearing on the day she was killed.

Fotis killed himself in 2020 after being charged with murder.

Ms Troconis is charged with conspiracy to murder, tampering with evidence and hindering prosecution.

Fotis Dulos created story of Jennifer running away as a teen

Friday 26 January 2024 20:20 , Andrea Blanco

Ms Troconis told police that she believed Jennifer was “somewhere, I hope, hiding.” She said that Fotis Dulos had mentioned Jennifer supposedly once ran away from home as a teenager and supported herself with money from an inheritance.

Det Kimball noted that it was unlikely because Jennifer was a loving mother to her five children.

“Would you ever leave and go hide and not tell your 12-year-old daughter where you were?” Det Kimball said.

Ms Troconis said that while her relationship with Dulos was never violent, she was going to move to Colorado once Jennifer was found - alive, Ms Troconis appeared to suggest - because she was determined to end her relationship with Dulos.

“He never hit me. He never talked aggressively to me,” Ms Troconis said. “We have fights as couples, but I’m also very dominant.”

Police confronted Ms Troconis about Fotis Dulos

Friday 26 January 2024 20:14 , Andrea Blanco

“Fotis lies to everybody, and the reason he lies to everybody is because he only cares about one person in the world - and that’s himself,” a detective told Ms Troconis.

“He didn’t care about his first wife, didn’t care about his second wife, and doesn’t care about you.”

“I’ll do whatever you want, but I didn’t do it,” Ms Troconis answered in tears.

Fotis Dulos told Michelle Troconis that Jennifer had mental illness

Friday 26 January 2024 17:35 , Andrea Blanco

Ms Troconis said that Fotis Dulos had told her Jennifer Dulos had borderline personality disorder.

“And you got this information from Fotis? This is the man who killed this woman,” a detective told Ms Troconis.

A female detective in the room also confronted Ms Troconis for staying with Dulos even after Jennifer’s disappearance.

“Fotis, the love of your life. The man you sleep with every night,” the female detective said as Ms Troconis broke down in tears. “So imagine what he could do to you ... [after what he did] to a woman he was married to for a long time, who he had five children with, two sets of twins.”

Ms Troconis was told this was her “golden ticket” to tell the truth.

Jennifer Dulos’ family has spoken out about the devastating evidence introduced in the trial of the woman accused of conspiring to conceal the slain mother-of-five’s murder.

Nearly four years after Jennifer was last seen after dropping off her children at school on 24 May 2019, her loved ones are reckoning with the “brutal evidence” that suggests she suffered a very tragic death. Although a body has never been found, prosecutors believe that Jennifer was murdered by her estranged husband Fotis Dulos in the garage of her New Canaan, Connecticut home.

Ms Troconis is standing trial on charges in connection to the murder of her ex-boyfriend Fotis Dulos’ estranged wife Jennifer Dulos, who disappeared on 24 May 2019. Det Kimball admitted investigators use a tactic known as “ruse,” and told Ms Tronconis that law enforcement had retrieved grabs of surveillance that showed a man removing a bloody pillow from a trash receptacle.

The detectives told Ms Tronconis that the blood was Jennifer’s - although that was never corroborated through DNA analysis.

“You need to start being honest with us about where Fotis was in the morning,” Ms Tronconis was told.

At times, Ms Troconis was seen crying as prosecutors played her interview tape.

In her interview with police, Ms Troconis was read her Miranda rights before a detective asked her to help them find out what had happened to Jennifer Dulos.

“We understand that has been described as a person who may have the tendency to manipulate and control people,” she was told. “We need the truth, we need details.”

Ms Troconis and detectives went over her activities on 23 May and 14 May 2019, the day Jennifer Dulos went missing. Ms Troconis said she went to her daughter’s bedroom at night because it was raining and she was scared.

“Then the alarm sounds, I wake up and I go to our bedroom,” Ms Troconis said. “Fotis wakes up ... I get to the shower ...Fotis jumps into the shower with me.”

Prosecutors then asked Det Kimball whether Ms Troconis had said “Fotis hopped in the shower” with her, to which the defence objected.

“Throughout the course of the interviews, did the defendant always indicate that Fotis Dulos woke up in her presence and got in the shower with her,” Mr McGeeney asked.

Det Kimball said that Ms Troconis had changed his version throughout the three times she was interviewed by police.

Det Reilly also admitted that he had not found traces of blood at the Farmington home where Ms Troconis, her daughter, and Fotis Dulos lived at the time she went missing.

The defence pointed out that even after eight hours of search at the residence Ms Troconos and Dulos shared, detectives did not find any evidence that could be tied to Jennifer’s disappearance.

Prosecutors in Connecticut‘s infamous “Gone Mom” case presented evidence Tuesday that they say links defendant Michelle Troconis to the 2019 disappearance of her boyfriend’s estranged wife, Jennifer Dulos.

Defence suggests Michelle Troconis couldn’t see bloody clothes through black plastic bags

Tuesday 23 January 2024 19:38 , Andrea Blanco

During cross-examination, defence attorney Jon Schoenhorn suggested that just as law enforcement was not able to determine that a blood-soaked bra was inside the black plastic bag Fotis Dulos disposed of until it was brought to a lab and cut open - his client wouldn’t have been able to see what was inside.

“You couldn’t see through that,” Mr Schoenhorn asked Sgt Duggan.

Mr Schoenhorn also asked whether Sgt Duggan could tell what items had touched each other. Sgt Dugga said he couldn’t.

It appears the defence is to point out a scenario in which Michelle Troconis’ DNA accidentally ended up in one of the bags also with Jennifer Dulos’ DNA.
