Time magazine announced on Tuesday that actor Michelle Yeoh is their Icon of the Year for 2022.

The publication posted their official announcement on Twitter. Yeoh herself posted about the accolade on her Instagram page.

Time praised Yeoh’s more recent works, such as “Crazy Rich Asians” and “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” but also highlighted her years as a star in Hong Kong action flicks.

The publication pointed to the significance of her recent hit “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” which has made her a Hollywood megastar and has fans clamoring for the actor to be nominated for an Oscar.

“I’ve thought about it. And not just me—I feel like my full Asian community has thought about it. They come up to me and they say, ‘You’re doing it for us,'” Yeoh told Time.

While fans wait to see if she is nominated for an Oscar or Golden Globe, Yeoh has already received other honors this year, including an honorary doctorate from the American Film Institute and the Toronto International Film Festival’s Groundbreaker Award. “Everything Everywhere All at Once” also landed eight Independent Spirit Award nominations.

Back in October, the acting icon said during a speech for Elle’s annual Women in Hollywood event that she is having “the best times” of her career. Her future projects include “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,” “The Witcher: Blood Origin” and the Disney Plus adaptation of “American Born Chinese.”

In addition to Yeoh, BLACKPINK was also honored by Time, who selected the K-pop girl group as their Entertainer of the Year.
