Michigan Adds 2,909 New Coronavirus Cases

MICHIGAN — The number of coronavirus cases in Michigan has increased by nearly 3,000 since Saturday, health officials reported.

Michigan reported 2,909 new cases of the coronavirus on Monday. The number includes Sunday's cases as well and brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state to 147,806.

Michigan also added 21 more COVID-19 deaths, bringing the coronavirus death toll in the state to 7,031.

Michigan added more than 1,700 new cases of the coronavirus on Saturday. That came after the state reported more than 2,000 new cases on Friday and Saturday. Nearly 110,000 people in Michigan have recovered from the virus, according to state health officials.

According to the World Health Organization, Michigan is 19th in the U.S. in reported cases of the coronavirus. Michigan is 10th in the nation in reported COVID-19 deaths.

More than 8.4 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported in the U.S., according to the World Health Organization. The nation has reported nearly 225,000 COVID-19 deaths and more than 5.4 million COVID-19 recoveries.

Over 40.5 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported worldwide, according to the World Health Organization. That number includes more than 1.1 million COVID-19 deaths and 30.2 million recoveries.
