A quartet of hitters have carried Brandywine's softball team all season.

And the four came through at the right time Tuesday night.

Catcher Chloe Parker, shortstop-pitcher Kadence Brumitt, rightfielder Julia Babcock and pitcher Haley Scott powered a 10-run fifth inning as the Bobcats rallied from a 2-1 deficit to dump Constantine 11-2 in a Division 3 pre-district game at Buchanan.

Brumitt started the big inning with a single and stole second. Brumitt advanced to third on Parker's double. After Adelyn Drotoz drove in Brumitt with the tying run with a sacrifice fly, Babcock layed down a bunt and when Constantine pitcher Katelyn Ross threw the ball away at first, Parker scored what proved to be the winning run.

Parker later had a two-run triple in the inning, during which Brandywine had seven hits and took advantage of four Falcon errors.

"It's our emmo," Brandywine coach Mike Brumitt said. "We come out a little flat every time it seems. And that's what we did tonight. We tend to pick it up. Sometimes we try to come back too late. But tonight we knuckled down and hit the ball when we needed to."

Parker, Brumitt and Babcock each had two hits and Parker and Babcock both drove in two runs. Brumitt, who reached base four times, is batting .507 with 19 RBIs, Parker is at .467 with 21 RBIs, Babcock .463 with 20 RBIs and Scott .425 with 44 RBIs.

Brandywine stayed in the game behind the pitching of Brumitt, who worked the final four innings, allowing no runs on just three hits with five strikeouts.

The Bobcats, now 17-14-1, get a third chance at No. 6-ranked and defending state runner-up Buchanan in Saturday's 10 a.m. district semifinal at Buchanan. The two split during the regular season, Buchanan winning 12-0 and Brandywine 5-4 in eight innings.

"I know we didn't get the best Buchanan that day," Brumitt said. "I want the best Buchanan and hopefully we'll get the best Brandywine and see what happens."
