Michigan football hires Christina DeRuyter as director of on-campus recruiting and operations

Michigan football has made an addition to the recruiting department.

The program announced Tuesday afternoon that it has hired Christina DeRuyter as the director of on-campus recruiting and operations.

DeRuyter was previously the on-campus recruiting coordinator at Vanderbilt, where she joined Clark Lea's program in March 2021.

Before that, she had the same role at Texas Tech between 2019-2020. While there, DeRuyter "organized and executed all aspects of the recruiting effort for the Red Raiders, including planning travel, accommodations, meals, meetings, tours and activities for every prospective student-athlete."

Her role at U-M will involve those same activities — which are particularly important as on-campus visits begin again in June after a hiatus of over a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

DeRuyter has also worked in a recruiting role at Arizona (2018) and interned with the NFL Players Association in 2017-18. She graduated from Texas A&M, where she worked in football operations and for the recruiting team.

DeRuyter is the daughter of Tim DeRuyter, a former head coach at Fresno State who is now the defensive coordinator and outside linebackers coach at Oregon.

The addition comes during an offseason in which Michigan has restructured the recruiting department, beginning with the resignation of former director of recruiting Matt Dudek, who accepted a similar position at Mississippi State. The Wolverines hired Courtney Morgan as director of player personnel; they have also promoted Aashon Larkins to director of recruiting while promoting Jerret McElwain to director of scouting and Tony Jones to director of high school relations.
