Michigan football vs. Ohio State: Your guide to 'The Game'

The greatest rivalry in college football continues Saturday, and the stakes couldn't be higher. The No. 3 ranked Michigan Wolverines (11-0) and No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes (11-0) meet as undefeated teams for the first time since 2006, when Ohio State beat Michigan 42-39 in "The Game of the Century."

The winner of "The Game" clinches the Big Ten East Division championship and will meet the West Division champion in the Big Ten Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 3. Should Michigan or Ohio State go 13-0 and win the Big Ten, they're all but a lock for the College Football Playoff. The loser has a slim chance to still make the playoff, but would likely head to the Rose Bowl as a consolation, depending on how other conference championships shake out.

How Michigan, Ohio State stack up

The biggest matchup may be Michigan's stout defense against Ohio State's juggernaut offense. Michigan gives up just 11.7 points and 241.3 yards per game, which rank 2nd and 1st in the Football Bowl Subdivision, respectively. But it hasn't faced an offense as potent as the Buckeyes, which rank Top 10 in both total offense (492.7 yards per game, 9th in FBS) and points (46.5, tied with Tennessee for first). They're led by quarterback C.J. Stroud, a Heisman Trophy contender with 2,995 passing yards, 35 touchdowns and 4 interceptions this season.

Michigan has a Heisman contender of its own in running back Blake Corum, who is third in the FBS with 1,457 rushing yards and second with 18 touchdowns. And it will be on Ohio State's new-look defense, led by first-year coordinator Jim Knowles, to bottle him up after OSU got gashed for 297 yards and five touchdowns on the ground in last year's game. That said, Corum suffered a knee injury last Saturday in Michigan's 19-17 nailbiting win over Illinois and, while he sounds confident about playing Saturday vs. OSU, coach Jim Harbaugh did not give an update Monday on his condition.
