PETOSKEY — The Petoskey Parkinson’s Support Group will welcome Kristin Rossi, CEO of the Michigan Parkinson Foundation, to the meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 22.

The Parkinson’s Support Group meets at 2 p.m. at the Petoskey Friendship Center, 1322 Anderson Road. Persons with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers are welcome to attend. Donuts and coffee, sponsored by the Michigan Parkinson Foundation, will be provided. The support group meeting opens with a 7-minute exercise workout geared toward those with Parkinson’s disease. The group topic for discussion will be "Home Safety Measures for Parkinson’s Disease." An open round-table session will follow.

Rossi earned her master's of public administration with a focus on nonprofit management from Western Michigan University. Prior to taking the helm at the Michigan Parkinson Foundation, she worked for the Alzheimer’s Association, where she developed a passion for neurodegenerative diseases, the effect they have on families, and the importance of ensuring that families and caregivers connect with community resources and support so that no one feel isolated or alone. Rossi believes that one of the main responsibilities of the foundation is to provide a connection point for socialization in every community throughout Michigan — that’s why she believes support groups are so pivotal.
