Michigan RB O'Maury Samuels charged with domestic violence

Michigan running back O’Maury Samuels has been dismissed from the program.

In two seasons with the Wolverines, Samuels rushed for 79 yards on 21 carries. The program announced his dismissal in a brief statement on Wednesday afternoon.

Michigan did not provide a reason for the dismissal. However, multiple outlets are reporting that Samuels is facing two charges, including one for domestic violence.

Per court records, Samuels currently faces one misdemeanor charge of domestic violence and one misdemeanor charge of malicious destruction of property in Ann Arbor’s 15th District Court.

The court filing indicates that the offenses took place Saturday. The charges were filed in the system Tuesday.

Samuels, a native of Los Lunas, New Mexico, arrived on campus in 2017 as a four-star recruit. He was behind senior Karan Higdon and juniors Chris Evans and Tru Wilson on the depth chart this season and appeared in only six games.

The 10-2 Wolverines finished No. 7 in the College Football Playoff rankings and will face No. 10 Florida in the Peach Bowl on Dec. 29.
