Michigan reports 16,530 new COVID-19 cases, 358 deaths over 2 days

The Michigan health department reported 16,530 new coronavirus cases over a two-day period on Wednesday, an average of 8,265 per day, bringing Michigan to 1,318,123 confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

Another 358 coronavirus-related deaths have also been reported Wednesday, 160 of which were identified in a regular vital records review. This increases the state's COVID-19 death toll to 24,090.

Of 60,750 confirmatory tests reported by the health department Tuesday, 11,804 yielded positive results for a positivity rate of 19.43%.

Data from the health department include 176,830 probable cases and 1,708 probable deaths, for a total of 1,494,953 cases and 25,798 deaths.
