Michigan reports 27,423 new COVID-19 cases, 379 deaths over 2 days

The Michigan health department reported 27,423 new COVID-19 cases over a two-day period Wednesday, an average of 13,712 per day, bringing Michigan to 1,933,062 confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

Another 379 coronavirus-related deaths were also reported Wednesday, 268 of which were identified in a regular vital records review. This increases the state's COVID-19 death toll to 29,605.

Of 54,144 confirmatory tests reported by the health department Tuesday, 15,281 yielded positive results for a positivity rate of 28.22%.

Data from the health department include 270,584 probable cases and 2,380 probable deaths, for a total of 2,203,646 cases and 31,985 deaths.
