Michigan reports 33,551 new COVID-19 cases, 210 deaths over 2 days

The Michigan health department reported 33,551 new COVID-19 cases over a two-day period Friday, an average of 16,776 per day, bringing Michigan to 1,866,267 confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

Another 210 coronavirus-related deaths were also reported Friday, 79 of which were identified in a regular vital records review. This increases the state's COVID-19 death toll to 29,190.

Of 57,733 confirmatory tests reported by the health department Thursday, 17,612 yielded positive results for a positivity rate of 30.51%.

Data from the health department include 257,958 probable cases and 2,312 probable deaths, for a total of 2,124,225 cases and 31,502 deaths.
