Michigan reports 86,009 new COVID-19 cases, 501 deaths over 5 days

The Michigan health department reported 86,009 new COVID-19 cases over a five-day period Wednesday, an average of 17,202 per day, bringing Michigan to 1,832,716 confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic.
Another 501 coronavirus-related deaths were also reported Wednesday, 346 of which were identified in a regular vital records review. This increases the state's COVID-19 death toll to 28,980.

Of 78,485 confirmatory tests reported by the health department Tuesday, 26,678 yielded positive results for a positivity rate of 33.99%.
Data from the health department include 250,267 probable cases and 2,295 probable deaths, for a total of 2,082,983 cases and 31,275 deaths.
