Michigan Reports Over 4,000 New Coronavirus Cases, 73 New Deaths

MICHIGAN — Michigan added over 4,000 new coronavirus cases Wednesday, state health officials said.

The newly reported cases, 4,273 in all, bring the state's total number of confirmed coronavirus cases to 324,779. Michigan also reported 73 more COVID-19 deaths, which grows the coronavirus death toll in the state to 8,761.

The state reported 6,290 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday and added 145 new COVID-19 deaths, 51 of which were discovered through a records search and occurred earlier than reported, the state said. On Saturday, the state said that over 152,000 Michiganders had recovered from the virus.

Michigan is No. 9 in the U.S. in reported coronavirus cases, according to the World Health Organization. Michigan is also in the Top 10 in the nation in reported COVID-19 deaths.

More than 13 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported in the U.S., according to the World Health Organization. Over 267,000 of those cases have been resulted in death, while more than 7.6 million have led to recovery.

According to the World Health Organization, over 60.5 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported worldwide. That number includes more than 1.4 COVID-19 deaths and over 41.8 million recoveries from the virus.
