Game notes: Michigan State finishes its season at home vs. Penn State, looking for its first 10-win season since 2017. Last year, PSU won this matchup, 39-24, at home amid an ugly season. Penn State's 2021 has turned ugly with three losses in its last five with defeats to Illinois, Ohio State and Michigan. The Nittany Lions beat Rutgers, 28-0, last week.

MSU was run over last week by Ohio State to put a pin in any College Football Playoff hopes. But a New Year's Day six bowl could be on the horizon with a win, which would be a nice feather in cap of new $95 million man Mel Tucker in his second season. The Spartans will have to solve a tough defense that is fourth in the nation allowing 15.5 points per game.
