Michigan State football gets commitment from 4-star 2023 DL Andrew Depaepe from Iowa

National signing day seems to have opened the floodgates for Michigan State football for next year's class.

Mel Tucker got his second bit of good news of Wednesday when Andrew Depaepe, a four-star defensive lineman for the class of 2023, made his pledge to MSU on social media.

Depaepe, a 6-foot-5, 245-pounder out of Bettendorf, Iowa, is the No. 2 player out of Iowa and the No. 19 defensive lineman in the nation for next year's class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

According to 247Sports, Depaepe, offered by the Spartans 12 months ago, said yes to MSU over Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and Iowa State, among others.

Allen Trieu, the 247Sports' national recruiting analyst, compares Depaepe to Oakland Raiders star and former Eastern Michigan defensive lineman Maxx Crosby, saying Depaepe has shown an ability to play in either a two- or three-point stance.

Earlier Wednesday, Detroit King offensive lineman Johnathan Slack, a three-star recruit for 2023, committed to MSU. There are two other commits for the Spartans for 2023: Texas running back Kedrick Reescano and Dexter tight end Brennan Parachek.
