OddsChecker: Take Michigan State to cover against Kansas State

It writes: "Michigan State is the slight favorite here and it’s simply because they matchup well with K-State. Strong defense at the rim combined with efficient offense likely means that reaching 70 points will be enough to win. Tom Izzo’s squad remains 12-2 when scoring at least 70 this year. K-State’s the best defense they’ve played in the tournament, but it’s still not one that’s particularly strong. Expect the Spartan’s physicality and three point shooting to be the difference in this one."

Andy Molitor writes: "Michigan State is 11-9 against the spread when favored by 1 point or more this season.  In games it has played as at least a 1-point underdog this year, Kansas State is 7-8 against the spread. These two teams average 145.7 points per game combined, 8.2 more than the over/under of 137.5."

Sports Chat Place:  Go with Michigan State to cover vs. Kansas State

It writes: "I’ll probably take a stab on Michigan State. The Spartans took out a good Marquette team on Sunday, shooting 44.4 percent from the field with a 38-33 rebounding advantage (12-11 offensive). Michigan State wasn’t great from outside however, going just 2-of-16 (12.5 percent) from 3-point range. Still, that makes 69 or more points in seven of their last eight appearances. As for Kansas State, they played a pretty well-rounded game versus Kentucky on Sunday, despite getting out-rebounded by a 44-25 (19-4 offensive) margin. The Wildcats ended up shooting 48.1 percent from the field however, and had just eight turnovers to Kentucky’s 16. If they’re not playing perfect basketball in this Sweet 16 matchup, I don’t think Kansas State will quite keep a cover/win pace. It’ll be a good one to watch, though."
