OddsChecker: Take Michigan State with the points against Marquette

It writes: "If Michigan State plays as physically as they did against USC that’s going to be a huge advantage for them. Getting to the free throw line will slow the game down and negate Marquette’s elite offense. Dominating the glass will allow them to take advantage of a weak Marquette defense. The big question here is can Michigan St score 70. In games where they score at least 70 this year they’re 12-2. Marquette allowed 70.6 points per game this season. Tom Izzo knows how to take advantage of obvious weaknesses, and all he needs to do is play to their season averages to come put his team in a great position to win this one. It’s for that reason I’m taking Michigan State to pull off the upset in this one."

Sports Chat Place: Go with Marquette to cover vs. Michigan State

Randy Chambers writes: "The Michigan State Spartans have the toughness, the physicality, and the coach to shock the tournament with an upset here. The problem is we’re not getting enough points. It’s fair to say Marquette is comfortably the better team here, with a far more balanced attack and arguably the best offense left in the field. We’re only laying a bucket. Marquette wins in the favorite role by an average of 12.5 points and is 5-1 ATS when favorites of 5 or fewer points. Like many games on Sunday, I’d need more points to consider the dog. Give me Marquette."

Sportsbook Wire: Michigan State 74, Marquette 71

Skip Snow writes: "The Eagles are accustomed to a faster style of play in the Big East. Look for MSU’s slow tempo to affect MU’s rhythm. We can expect shooting regression to hurt MU’s offense and help MSU’s defense. Consider a partial-unit play on MICHIGAN STATE +2.5 (-108)."

FanDuel: Michigan State 76, Marquette 75

It writes: "Marquette also lacks discipline at times, averaging 16.8 personal fouls away from home. Considering how Michigan State has a 75.4% success rate from the charity stripe (No. 52), the Spartans can make the Golden Eagles pay for any foul trouble. While I still expect a close game, Michigan State is in a good spot to pull off the upset."

Fansided: Marquette will cover against Michigan State

Reed Wallach writes: "This is going to be a culture shock for Michigan State, who is used to playing a methodical style in the Big Ten and wasn’t challenged by a lackluster USC effort on offense in their first round win. Marquette is a different beast, and I think their offense rolls to a Sweet 16 berth."
