A top-100 player is among a class of two signed by coach Suzy Merchant and the Michigan State women’s basketball program for its 2023 class.

The Spartans announced the additions of forward Jordan Wood and guard Bree Robinson, who signed their National Letters of Intent during the opening day of the early signing period Wednesday.

Wood, a 6-foot-4 forward  is regarded by ESPNW HoopGurlz as a four-star prospect and the No. 62 ranked player in the 2023 class. The Chicago native helped Carmel Catholic High School to a Class 3A state title in Illinois as a junior and averaged 14.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists.

“Jordan’s versatility and length will make a difference on both sides of the ball for us,” Merchant said in a released statement. “She brings face up scoring and a strong passing skill set in the front court position.

“Her mobility defensively will continue to allow us to extend the court. She has the ability on offense to really run the floor in our transition game, which will make an immediate impact."

Robinson, a 5-8 guard, is a native of Mississauga, Ontario. She helped the Webb School in Tennessee to a state championship and has international experience playing for Team Canada. She was part of the U16 squad that won a silver medal at the FIBA Americas in 2021.

“Bree brings a toughness and a work ethic that exude what being a Spartan is all about,” Merchant said. “She is a gritty defender, playmaker and a leader. Her international experience coupled with her nationally competitive high school team has prepared and challenged her for the next level.”
