Mick Jagger Calls Out Society For Dressing Too Casually

We all know Sir Mick Jagger as a music legend. His band The Rolling Stones has been a household name for generations. And he’s also something of a style icon. After all, this is the guy that can pull of the brightest of bright suits.

It’s no secret that Jagger takes pride in his appearance, knows his style and isn’t afraid to speak his mind. And one thing he’s spoken out about recently is how badly dressed society is - and the general state of style today.

“People just don’t dress up like they used to…” he told Another Man magazine. “When people went to the theatre everyone dressed up. I don’t really miss that. But do you like going to the theatre and seeing a bloke with not very nice legs in shorts and flip-flops?”

He makes a very good point. These days, West End shows are far more likely to be packed with more people in jeans and Converse than smart suits and dresses. And the same goes for a lot of offices across the UK.

After spending over 50 years on stage, Jagger has definitely mastered his ‘stage outfits’.

He explains that there’s a knack to it, saying, “playing in a 15,000-seater arena, you have to cut more of a dash. You have to have a silhouette and a colour, and some kind of item that’s going to get noticed and followed, whether it’s a scarf or a hat."

Although Jagger is best known for his bright embellished jackets and tight trousers, you have to admit the rocker always looks smart. Jagger is just saying what all of us have been thinking. As a generation, have we lost our motivation to dress up?

If a hardcore rock legend can put on a suit and tie (even if it does end up being a ‘spots luxe’ look with the addition of trainers) maybe we should think about making a little more effort next time we go out.
