Mick Jagger ‘feeling much better’ after COVID diagnosis, says Rolling Stones will resume tour next week

Rolling Stones fans can’t always get what they want — but starting next week, they’ll get what they need.

Frontman Mick Jagger assured ticketholders and fans Wednesday that despite contracting COVID earlier this week, he’ll be up to his old tricks when the band returns to the stage next week.

“Thank you all so much for your well wishes and messages the last few days,” the “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” singer, 78, tweeted. “I’m feeling much better and can’t wait to get back on stage next week! … See you soon! Mick.”

The band canceled their Amsterdam gig Monday after Jagger announced that he had tested positive for the virus. The British-born singer revealed Wednesday that the Stones will make up the gig on July 7.

Jagger noted that the group is still figuring out when to make up a cancelled show in Bern, Switzerland, which was set for this Friday.

The Stones, currently touring 10 countries as part of their 60th anniversary, have had a bumpy last couple of years. After their “No Filter” tour was postponed in early 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, the group announced last summer they’d resume their U.S. tour in September.

That announcement was followed in early August by drummer Charlie Watts asking “great friend” Steve Jordan to take his place during the tour due to an undisclosed medical procedure. Watts died later that month at age 80.
