Mick Jagger "feeling pretty good" about his health in first interview since heart surgery

Sir Mick Jagger has assured Rolling Stones fans he is fit and ready to tour after undergoing heart surgery.

The 75-year-old rocker underwent a heart valve replacement operation in April to treat a medical condition which forced the band to delay their latest tour.

Jagger has now told Toronto radio station Q107 he is “feeling pretty good”.

The Start Me Up singer added: “Been rehearsing a lot lately in the last few weeks … This morning [I did] a bit of gym. Nothing crazy. Then I go into rehearsal with the rest of the band.”

Jagger revealed the band - who have a combined age of 300 - are working on the set list for the No Filter tour, which will resume in Chicago June 21st.

He said: “We’re trying to pick some [songs] we haven’t done in recent years, stuff we haven’t done before.

“Most of the time people don’t want too much unusual. People like a little bit unusual. They don’t want 100 percent unusual.”

Bandmate Keith Richards, 75, recently told the Toronto Sun: “He [Jagger] went through it very easily. He’s in great shape — rocking. As I say, it seemed to be no problem at all really.”

“It was just, ‘Oh, Mick will be better.’ We’ll just wait around because there was no doubt that we’d soon pick it up. It just had to be done. So we did it.”

And a video posted on Instagram last month showed Sir Mick rehearsing his famous dance moves.

Jagger and Richards will be joined on the road by Charlie Watts, 78, and Ronnie Wood, 72.

In April The Rolling Stones announced they were postponing their latest tour so Jagger could receive medical treatment.

He was told by doctors "he cannot go on tour at this time" and Jagger tweeted: "I'm devastated for having to postpone the tour but I will be working very hard to be back on stage as soon as I can."
