Mick Schumacher brings F1 skills to the surf

STORY: The Haas driver was given instructions from some of Australia’s best pro surfers, Isabella Nichols, Connor O’Leary, and Bronte Macaulay as he tried to bring his driving skills to the surf.

The racer did not let the surfing stars down as he quickly took to the water and was catching waves left and right.

Schumacher said he hopes to take some lessons from the surfers and his experience in the wave pool to the track.

“It’s for sure something I can use in my world. It’s just about taking those experiences, trying them out and seeing if some of it helps with how to prepare and how to take on the challenge. And that’s what I'll take away from here,” the driver said.

The Australian Grand Prix will be held at Melbourne’s Albert Park Circuit on Sunday (April 10), the same day the surfers will hit the waves for the start of the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach event, part of the World Surf League Championship Tour (worldsurfleague.com).
