Mid-Columbia teams battle for remaining shots at WA basketball championship in Tacoma
After a week of district high school basketball playoffs, things are starting to shake out.
Congrats go to the Warden and Mabton girls teams, who have already earned state regional playoff berths in Class 2B.
In the 1B level, DeSales’ boys have qualified for state regionals, as have the Sunnyside Christian girls.
Looks like Richland’s and Walla Walla’s boys, Kamiakin, Kennewick and Walla Walla girls could earn state regional berths tonight, Tuesday, Feb. 13, with playoff victories (see below).
Meanwhile, hats off to what the River View boys are doing.
The Panthers had to win a play-in game to even get into the 2B EWAC district tournament. They did that by beating Goldendale.
Then they took down No. 1 West seed Cle Elum on the road, 47-39.
Now they’ll play at Tri-Cities Prep on Tuesday, Feb. 13, for a chance for a 2B state regional berth.
Mabton visits Columbia-Burbank in the other state play-in game. Both games tip off at 6 p.m.
