Mid-State Fair announces free carnival rides on the first day — no wristbands needed

All carnival ride will be free on the first day of the California Mid-State Fair next month — with no tickets or wristbands necessary, organizers announced on Tuesday.

The promotion is a partnership with Helm & Sons Amusements and is only good for Wednesday, July 19, according to a news release.

Admission to the Paso Robles Event Center is still required, but single ride tickets and unlimited ride wristbands will not be necessary to ride any of the carnival attractions, including the Big Splash water ride, the new P.L.U.R. Spinning Coaster and Medusa.

The offer doesn’t include paid carnival games, according to the release.

“We are pleased to bring back this great deal for all fairgoers,” California Mid-State Fair CEO Colleen Bojorquez said in the release. “It’s a fun way to welcome the community back on our grounds.”

The carnival will be open from 4 p.m. to midnight. Carnival ride height and size restrictions still apply.

For all other days of the 2023 fair, pre-sale single-day unlimited ride wristbands are available for purchase for $35 at www.MidStateFair.com. Presale fair admission tickets are $13 for adults, $11 for seniors and $9 for kids. Prices at the gate are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $9 for kids.

The 2023 California Mid-State Fair runs July 19-30, and this year’s theme is “Shake, Rattle & Roll!”
