Middle School aged students to participate in 5th annual Gator Bowl charities sports career fair

Students from Alfred I. duPont Middle School, Charger Academy, Highlands Middle School and Ribault Middle School will send students from their 5,000 Role Models of Excellence program as well as eighth graders to participate in a career fair.

The fair will focus on jobs in sports as part of the Gator Bowl Charities Sports Career Fair.

The event will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 28 and will run from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Students will have the opportunity to engage with representatives from 1010XL, Brooks Rehabilitation, Delaware North, Edward Waters University, First Coast YMCA, the Jacksonville Icemen, Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp and Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office just to name a few.

As said in a recent news release, the program, sponsored by the Florida Lottery, no only provides an opportunity for students to be introduced to the diversity of careers in sports, but also will provide a financial literacy breakout session courtesy of Regions Bank.

The event will finish with a keynote address from former NFL cornerback Demetrius McCray who currently works as a recruiter for the company, Fanatics.
