Yet another blast of winter weather is possible in Middle Tennessee throughout the afternoon Wednesday and into the overnight hours, the forecast showed.

Light freezing rain, sleet and snow are all possible across the region, the National Weather Service Nashville said. Additional ice accumulations up to one-tenth of an inch are possible across the region's west-central counties. The rest will see a light glaze of ice, if any.

"Temperatures will warm above freezing area-wide on Thursday, with any wintry mix changing to all rain before ending by Thursday afternoon and evening," NWS said.

A winter weather advisory is in place for the following counties from 6 p.m. Wednesday through 9 a.m. Thursday: Cheatham; Dickson; Hickman; Houston; Humphreys; Lewis; Maury; Perry; and Williamson.

"Difficult travel conditions are possible," NWS said Wednesday afternoon. "The hazardous conditions could impact the evening and morning commutes."

Multiple Middle Tennessee school districts announced closures Wednesday due to the winter weather. See the full list here.

A look at road conditions in Middle Tennessee; Memphis ice storm continues

Interstate 24 was shut down early Wednesday morning due to a wreck near the Maxey Road exit, and later reopened. The Tennessee Department of Transportation reported hazardous conditions in the area of the crash. Extremely hazardous conditions to the north of the greater Nashville area were also reported overnight Tuesday.

The latest road information in your area can be found by calling 511. TDOT also offers a live traffic and road conditions map at smartway.tn.gov/traffic.

Much of West Tennessee, including Memphis, remains under an ice storm warning until 12 p.m. Thursday. Slick roads, wrecks and interstate backups have been reported as ice, sleet and freezing rain have pummeled the area this week. A final round of wintry weather is expected Wednesday, according to NWS Memphis.

The ice storm also delayed the funeral service for Tyre Nichols until 1 p.m. Nichols died last month after a traffic stop turned violent, officials said. His death has drawn national attention. Vice President Kamala Harris spoke at the funeral.
