Middleboro Little League team takes the field Saturday for another chance at the World Series

The Middleboro Little League team still has a shot at the World Series as they take the field Saturday night.

The 12-year-old boys lost Wednesday night to Tennessee, but they’ll now play in an elimination game Saturday night at 7 p.m.

Middleboro will take on the team from Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania and if they lose, the Massachusetts champions will be eliminated.

The community has really rallied behind them, selling t-shirts to support the team and throwing watch parties.

The staff at Fireside Classic American Grille is hosting a watch party at 6 p.m. ahead of the team’s big game Saturday.

It’s been more than a decade since a Massachusetts team has made it this far in the Little League World Series.

Middleboro became the first team from Massachusetts to advance to the LLWS in 13 years after defeating Maine in the New England Regionals championship last week. Peabody last advanced to the prestigious tournament in 2009.

The winner of Saturday’s game will play again on Sunday.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
