Jan. 13 meeting

KEY ACTION Council members had been sworn in and were ready to begin 2022. One new councilman, Jordan Long, was seated and Councilwoman Debbi Zoppi was nominated as council president for another year. Long replaces former councilwoman Molly Brandon, who decided not to return this year.

DISCUSSION: Committees for this year were announced as follows: FINANCE, Zoppi, Bill Weaver, Donna Kohler; PARK, Wayne Brandon, Jerry Propp, Weaver; RECORDS, Kohler, Zoppi, Long; SAFETY, Long, Propp, Brandon; STREET, Propp, Zoppi, Kohler; GRANTS, Weaver, Brandon, Long; WATER REPRESENTATIVE, Long.

OTHER ACTION

• Passed a resolution to allow Fiscal Officer Georgianne Turner to reallocate funds as needed throughout the year.

• Passed a resolution to allow Turner to authorize blanket purchase orders, up to $45,000 for 2022.

• Turner requested a meeting with the Finance Committee to discuss the employee handbook and other financial items.

• Turner requested a meeting to be scheduled with the Finance Committee and the Water Board as soon as possible to discuss possible wages for an incoming Water Superintendent. Board of Public Affairs President Randy Cadle explained that current Water Superintendent Aaron Willison is resigning as of Jan. 24. Water Board member Lynette Kopp disbursed papers showing the wages of those in similar villages who hold Class 1 Certification. Water must be tested in the village seven days a week, Cadle noted.

• Cadle and Kopp said they will be going door-to-door in an effort to obtain income surveys that are needed to secure grant funding for the $2.5 million water treatment plant.

• There is an ongoing discussion with Fairfield Twp., who may be interested in the fire truck. The village owes between $41-42,000 on a 0% loan to the State of Ohio, according to Turner. Fire Department representatives may come and meet with council at some point.

• A report submitted by Police Chief Brian Anderson showed that 34 calls were answered for the month of December. They included eight traffic stops, two auto accidents, two that were illness related, etc.
