New Migrant Caravan Departs for US From Honduras

A new migrant caravan departed from the central bus station in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, on the evening of Monday, January 14.

El Periodico reported at least 500 migrants departed on Monday evening, ahead of the scheduled departure time of 5 am Tuesday.

The group set off in the rain from the same location as a previous caravan of 2,000 in October 2018, according to reports.

CNN reported the previous caravan reached up to 7,000 people at its peak.

A week prior to the new caravan’s departure, Donald Trump told reporters there was another major caravan forming and his administration were trying to “break it up,” CNN reported. Credit: Jeff Ernst via Storyful
