Good morning! NFL Draft week is here.

We’ll be chronicling the many stories of Georgia players that will be taken in the draftapalooza that runs Thursday to Saturday in Las Vegas.

A record number of Bulldog players are expected to go in the draft and there are some connections to those in the UGA program.

That includes Mike Bobo, the former Georgia offensive coordinator who is now an offensive analyst on Kirby Smart's staff.

Bobo recruited and coached Trey McBride who many view as the top tight end prospect this year.

McBride won the Mackey Award for nation’s top tight end—we know that you probably think Brock Bowers should have won it—when he had 90 catches for 1,121 yards and a touchdown.

Bobo recruited McBride out of Fort McBride, Colo.

“He’s really a good guy,” McBride told the Banner-Herald. “A guy who took a chance on me from a small farm town in Colorado. He really took a chance on me. I thank Coach Bobo in everything he’s done for me. Really a guy who taught me everything about football. Him and coach (Joe) Cox really taught me everything, taught me the game of football. I really thank him.”

McBride, a first-team All Mountain West pick in 2019 under Bobo, has received national attention in the lead up to the draft because he was raised by same sex parents.

Bobo sent him congratulations on Twitter when McBride won the Mackey Award.

“He’s a guy I talk to all the time, a guy who still keeps in contact with me,” McBride said. “Very fortunate to know him.”

Bobo coached four first-round draft picks as Georgia offensive coordinator including No. 1 overall pick Matthew Stafford, running backs Knowshon Moreno and Todd Gurley and wide receiver A.J. Green.

McBride may not go in the first round, but he’ll be another player with a Bobo connection to reach the NFL like 2018 third-round wide receiver Michael Gallup from Monroe Area.
