Milan residents celebrate at 'A Taste of Syttende Mai'

— A gentle hum of Arnie Anderson's accordion created a soothing and welcoming atmosphere to the downtown streets of Milan as folks gathered for the first time in more than two years for a very special occasion.

Tuesday, May 17, serves as Constitution Day in Norway, bringing the 16th annual "A Taste of Syttende Mai" celebration to the small rural community of Milan. The day began with Kviteseid Lutheran Church hosting the Smorgas Team, where Norwegian foods of all kinds were on tap for residents to enjoy with friends and family.

Across town, busy artists were in the process of soldering silver in The Milan Village Art School, which typically opens its doors for spectators to come in and watch the artists, but restricted access due to the pandemic this year.

Over in front of the Arv Hus Museum and Billy Maple Tree's, "Skólmusik" performed to the crowd before the day wrapped up with the annual Uff-da parade throughout the heart of Milan.
