There may be hope for Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, at least according to their families. While the couple announced that they were splitting up less than a year after tying the knot, no official divorce has been filed. A source told E! News that they’re currently taking some time apart, but that their families are hoping that they won’t make any drastic decisions just yet.
“Their families have urged them to take some time to breathe before they make any final decisions,” the source said. “They are both upset about how this has blown up and are both hurting right now.”
The source added that after the couple wed in December “their relationship completely changed.”
“Miley got back in the studio and was focused and serious about her new music,” they added. “Liam was continuing to party with his friends. They used to party, but Miley outgrew that phase.”
The couple announced their separation while Cyrus was on vacation in Italy with the also newly-single Kaitlynn Carter, Brody Jenner’s wife. The two women were photographed cuddling and kissing, and later spotted hanging out upon their return to L.A.
For now, Cyrus and Hemsworth are feeling things out during their separation and it’s unclear where things are headed.
“Neither Miley or Liam have decided when they are going to take the next step of filing for divorce,” the source said. “Because there is a chance of reconciliation.
