Miley Cyrus Shows Her Support for Gun Control With a Very Direct Political T-Shirt

Her political fashion statement comes one day after the news that 2018 was the most violent for mass shootings in schools.

Yesterday, a report released by the US Naval Postgraduate School revealed that 2018 was the most violent year on record for school shootings. According to the data, there were 94 gun-related incidents, the highest number on record since 1970 and a significant increase from the 59 incidents that took place in 2006. In light of this staggering number, one very politically-outspoken musician is highlighting the urgent need for gun control in America. Shortly after arriving in New York from London, where she was promoting her new song with Mark Ronson “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart,” Miley Cyrus wore a plaid suit, Dr. Martens boots, and a fuzzy orange hat paired with a very direct, seemingly DIY cropped white T-shirt with the words “Protect Kids, Not Guns,” scrawled in black marker across the front.

Cyrus has always been vocal about her support for gun reform. She performed her hit track “The Climb” at the March For Our Lives rally in Washington D.C. back in March, and later joined the crowd of protesters holding a sign that read “Never Again,” a direct response to the fatal shooting that had occurred a month earlier at Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida. Cyrus’s latest fashion statement proves she’s fully committed to wearing her politics on her sleeve.
