Recovering From Surgery

Last month, Miley Cyrus was hospitalized with tonsillitis, and doctors discovered an unrelated issue with her vocal cords. She underwent emergency surgery to fix the issue and will require weeks of silence to ensure that they heal correctly.

Throughout the entire process, boyfriend Cody Simpson, a 22-year-old Australian singer, has been her companion. A source told People:

"The surgery went well and she is resting up at home now. [She] has known for a while that she needed the surgery. Cody is by her side. They are still doing well. Miley seems very happy. Cody will make sure she isn’t bored while she recovers."

A Fast Tracked Romance

It isn't surprising that Simpson is by Cyrus's side through her recovery. This new couple has been joined at the hip since they started dating in early October, and Simpson also stayed with Cyrus in the hospital after she had surgery for her tonsillitis. During that hospital stay, Simpson even wrote a song inspired by Cyrus called "Golden Thing," which Cyrus encouraged him to release.

"I wrote her a song this week that she’s pretty much forcing me to put out. She was like, ‘If you don’t put this s— out, I’m putting it out on your behalf for you. I’m getting your Spotify login and doing this s— myself.’"

Social Media Official

These two have been friends for years, but recently reconnected on a romantic level. They've been effusive of their affection for one another on social media, becoming Instagram official on October 16 with a post about their new matching tattoos. Simpson’s manager Matt Zeidman told People:

"It is early, but their friendship is long-standing and deeper than people realize. Though they originally met during their own wilder phases, they’re both sober now and are focused on health, work and spending time together. Seems pretty ideal to me."

A Clean Break

However, there was some drama when it appeared that Cyrus and her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth unfollowed each other on Instagram. A source told RadarOnline.com that it was "devastating" for Cyrus.

"She thought somehow they would find their way back to each other and she was holding on to that, but then Liam unfollowed her and that was his way of saying it’s really done. Yeah, Liam is not turning back. After all thats been happening with her, she had been distracting herself from it all but now she is really feeling it. It’s quite sad."
