Milford man pleads guilty to attacking female jogger in NKY, court documents say

A Milford, Ohio, man has pleaded guilty to attacking a female jogger in Ludlow, Kentucky, according to documents filed in Kenton County Circuit Court.

Allen Garrison, 28, pleaded guilty earlier this month to one count of first-degree attempted rape and one count of first-degree sexual abuse, the court filings show.

Garrison was arrested on March 1, after police were notified of an assault that happened in the 800 block of Elm Street, according to the Ludlow Police Department.

The victim was on a morning run on Feb. 23 when she was attacked from behind, police said, adding she was able to fight back, causing her attacker to flee.

Physical evidence was recovered from the scene and investigators identified Garrison as a suspect, police said. Garrison was located by Cold Spring police and interviewed at the Newport Police Department.

In court filings, prosecutors said Garrison admitted "his intention was to engage in sexual intercourse with (the victim) when he knocked her to the ground."

A public defender for Garrison has yet to respond to a request from The Enquirer seeking comment on the plea.

The Kenton County Commonwealth's Attorney's Office is recommending a prison sentence of eight years for the attempted rape charge and five years for the sexual abuse charge, court filings show.

According to the prosecutors' recommendation, those sentences will run concurrently to each other but consecutively to any sentence stemming from an attempted kidnapping charge Garrison is facing in Campbell County.

He will also have to successfully complete a sex offender treatment program and register as a sex offender for life, court filings show.

A sentencing hearing before Circuit Judge Patricia Summe is scheduled for Sept. 27, according to court records.
