Milford's Sarah Brogioli named MASCAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week at BSU

BRIDGEWATER — She didn't expect it.

But Bridgewater State University freshman Sarah Brogioli was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball Rookie of the Week.

“I wasn't even expecting to be playing,” Brogioli said. “So it all came to (me as) a surprise.”

Brogioli notched 21 kills to go along with five aces, 18 digs and two assisted blocks in a 2-1 week for the Bears. The Milford native tallied seven kills, one ace and four digs in a 3-0 win over Salem State University. She also added eight kills, one ace, five digs and an assisted block in a 3-0 victory over Dean College, and six kills, one assist, three aces, nine digs and an assisted block in a 3-0 loss to Gordon College.

In eight matches for the Bears this season, Brogioli, an outside hitter, has recorded 46 kills, 11 aces and 56 digs.

“My volleyball expeicne at BSU has been really good so far,” Brogioli said. “The team plays really good together and we have an entire team full of strong players.”

The BSU volleyball team is currently 6-4 on the season and a 2-1 in the MASCAC.
