Military Bowl Selection Sunday: Tulane to play Virginia Tech

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Tulane will be playing Virginia Tech on Dec. 27 for this year’s annual Military Bowl, presented by Go Bowling.com. Tulane is in the American Athletic Conference (AAC), while Virginia Tech is in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

“What a great matchup of exciting teams!” Military Bowl Foundation President & Executive Director Steve Beck said in a press release. “Virginia Tech came on strong during the second half of the season, while Tulane spent most of the season in the national rankings and is enjoying the best football era in school history. It should be a great Bowl Week in Washington, D.C., and a terrific matchup in Annapolis!”

This will be the Virginia Tech Hokies’ third trip to the Military Bowl – they faced Cincinnati in 2014 and 2018, beating them 33-17 before a capacity crowd of 34,277 in the first meeting, but losing the rematch 35-31 before 32,832.

The bowl will be the 10th meeting between Tulane and Virginia Tech, but the first since 1989, when the Hoakies prevailed 30-13 in Blacksburg.
