Millersport Monster Mash III and trick or treat to be held Oct. 26

Millersport will hold its annual trick-or-treat night from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26. Monster Mash III will be held in the Commodore Bank parking lot with entertainment by the Roxy Janes. This talented group consists of five women who are musical veterans in the Columbus area and beyond. They love music and decided to form an all-female rock band. Every concert with this group is a celebration you won’t want to miss.

Steak dinner

The Millersport Methodist Church will hold a carry-out steak dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28. The menu will include 6-ounce baked steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, slaw, roll and pie. Tickets are $15. To have tickets held at the door call 740-467-2159. All proceeds will go to missions.

The students named as Students of the Month at Millersport Junior/Senior High School for the month of September are:

  • 12th Grade – Allison Foltz and Nate Curry

Homecoming court

Congratulations to Miss Allison Foltz, Homecoming Queen for 2023 and her court. Allison was escorted by Roni Rarey and Lexi Barch. Senior attendant Emily Blevins was escorted by Tyler Large and Brenden Jakeway, senior attendant Mayci Schilling was escorted by Tyler Large and Ryan Turner. Junior attendant Madison Eblin was escorted by Robert Bernard. Sophomore attendant Keegan Spears was escorted by Justin Phillips. Freshman attendant Raelyn Diendl was escorted by Landon Ailes.

Mayci Schilling was awarded the Miss Millersport award at the pep rally and Tyler Large was named Mr. Millersport. Many community members came out to see the parade and pep rally. Congratulations to the juniors for winning the award for the best float in the parade.

Senior citizens

The Fairfield Beach Senior Citizens met Oct. 11 at IHOP in Lancaster. President Carol Kitzmiller welcomed those present and led them in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Ken Keener offered a prayer. Twelve members and one guest enjoyed breakfast.

President Kitzmiller conducted a short business meeting. The Nominating Committee for officers for 2024 are Richard Neff and John Hammel. The officers for 2023 accepted the positions for 2024: President Carol Kitzmiller, Vice President Richard Neff, Secretary Ruthanne Hammel, Treasurer Drenille Keener, and Chaplain Ken Keener. Discussion was held on the November meeting. It was decided to go to Bob Evans on Wednesday, November 8th.

Nancy Davis was recognized with a November birthday. Door prizes were won by Nancy Davis, Rosie Brookover, John Hammel, Richard Neff, Debbie Gant, Ken Keener and Drenille Keener. The meeting was adjourned and many were headed to the Fairfield County Fair for Senior Citizens’ Day.

Board of Education

The Walnut Township Local School District Board of Education met in special session Oct. 9 in the Laker Learning Center of Millersport High School. District Treasurer Jill Bradford presented the Five-Year Forecast and Capital Plan.

The regular meeting of the Board of Education followed the special meeting. Awards were presented to Millersport Lions Club members Kris Keller and Tamarra Parker-Stephens for their support through Lion’s Quest and Staff Recognition of Kayla Randolph for her work with Homecoming and ASL Silent Weekend. Ellen Bruckelmeyer gave her report as Student Liaison to the Board of Education.

The Board entered into executive session to consider the investigation of complaints against a public employee.Elementary Principal Kim Yenni reported on upcoming events. Grandparents’ Days will be held on Oct. 19 and 20, Third Grade ELA tests will be given, conferences will be held and Halloween activities will be enjoyed.Megan Terry, Junior/Senior High School Principal, reported on September Students of the Month, AP Honor Roll, State Testing Awards, Parent-Teacher Conferences, Homecoming festivities, career center student on track for graduation, and upcoming dates of activities.

Reports were given on Technology, Food Service, Building and Grounds; Transportation Programs; Maintenance Committee Report. Superintendent Radulovich reported on the State Report Card recently released, safety grants/projects, and various other ongoing projects.

The board voted to enter into executive session to consider the discipline of a public employee. No action followed.The November meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20 due to Capital Conference on the regular meeting night.
