Millersport news: Dr. Keller donates $5,500 to the food pantry

Dr. Glen E. Keller of Keller Family Chiropractic, LLC is celebrating the 15th year of its annual Patient Appreciation Day.  All proceeds continue to be donated to the Millersport Food Pantry. Dr. Keller and staff want to thank the following individuals that also donated products to be included in the Raffle Baskets: Mike Bergum, Trish Ross, and Brianna McClung. This increased the total raffles to 15 baskets plus the portable massager and thumper massager.  “It is from the overwhelming support of our patients and community that enable us to raise this money for such a great and worthy cause," Keller said. Dr. Keller presented a check to Les Smith, a representative of the food pantry, for $5,500.

Millersport Lions Easter breakfast and egg hunt

The Millersport Lions Club will hold its annual Easter Breakfast and Egg Hunt from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 1 at the Lions Clubhouse on Chautauqua Boulevard in Millersport.  The menu for the breakfast includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage links, sausage gravy, and biscuits.  The Lions would like to thank Bower & Sons Meats for their donation of the meat.  A donation of $5 each will be accepted with kids 3 years of age and younger eating free.  Kids ages 12 and younger are invited to join in the Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m.

Blood drive

MCT presents "Once Upon a Mattress"

Come see Millersport Community Theatre’s Production of “Once Upon a Mattress" at 7:30 p.m. April 14 and 15 and 2 p.m. April 16 at the Millersport District Auditorium, 11850 Lancaster Street in Millersport.  In this musical comedy version of "The Princess and Pea," Princess Winnifred is an ungainly, brash girl who competes for the hand of Prince Dauntless, whose domineering mother Queen Aggravain has declared he must marry a “true” princess before anyone else in the kingdom can marry.  This show is rated G and is suitable for families and people of all ages.  Some Millersport faces you may recognize on the MCT stage are Jeff Dupler, Misty Hoover, Celeste Anderson, and more.  Tickets are $15 and are reserved seating, first come first served.  Tickets can be bought online at www.mctohio.com or by reserving through millersportcommunitytheatre@gmail.com.  They can also be bought at the door depending on availability.  House will open 30 minutes prior to showtime and concessions will be available.

Village Council

Millersport Village Council met at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 14 in the municipal building.

The Activities Committee met at 6 p.m. prior to the regular council meeting and set the dates for the movie nights and Music in the Park nights. The committee also set the dates for Monster Mash III and the Christmas Tree Lighting/Parade. The dates for the Friday Movie Nights are June 16, July 14 and Aug. 11.  Saturday Music in the Parks events will be Dave Spires on June 24, Sweetwater on July 22 and Cory Brown on Sept. 23.  The Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 29.  Monster Mash III and Trick-or-Treat will be held on Thursday, Oct. 26.  The tree lighting, parade and Chocolate Hop will be held on Sunday, Dec. 3.  Mayor Matheny will meet with businesses to help coordinate these events.

D&M Painting is working on the large water tower and should be finished within two weeks and also work on the small tower on the alley.  Weather permitting the water tower project may be completed by mid-May.  Necco/Neptune is setting up in the water garage and office and is beginning to change out the water meters.  Information will be sent out to residents as it become available.  By summer's end, the towers and meter projects will be completed and the secondary iron filter project will begin.

Tim Morris is working on a Nature Grant for swings and a gazebo to supplement the playground equipment that exists.  This is s 25% matching grant.  The pre-application form to secure a sewer grant to repair and/or replace an equalizer basin at the sewer plant has been filled out.

Mike Stutske and crew cleaned the pumps at the sewer plant again and removed debris.

Police Chief Marc Consolo reported that during the month of February the police department issued one traffic warning, one traffic citation, had three dispatch runs, and three mutual aid runs.

Walnut Township Fire Chief Bob Price reported February run totals were:  Station 631 – 32 runs, Station 632 – 19 runs, and Station 633 – 17 runs.  They also made 16 mutual aid runs.

Code enforcement letters will be sent out April 1.  Be considerate of your neighbors by keeping trash contained, mow and weed eat your grass, and make sure your vehicles are properly licensed.  Tom Nebbergall reported that lights and part of the fence at Miller Park have been broken and should be on the camera.  They need to be replaced and the people responsible for the damage be identified.

An ordinance setting Right-of-Way fees for utilities was passed.

The American Legion building will be signed over to the village.  The village is waiting for the title and the deed to be filed. The process should be fairly easy because no money will be exchanged.  The parking lot will help with parking issues in town.  There are no immediate plans for the building.

The Village of Millersport will be celebrating its Bicentennial in 2025. Plans are now being set to form a committee to plan the celebration. Residents who are interested in being part of this event should contact Vince Popo (614-562-7320).
