Millersport news: Lancaster 7-year-old named Little Miss Poppy Queen

Millersport American Legion Auxiliary Unit 637 held the annual crowning of their Little Miss Poppy Queen on Monday, April 17. The new Queen, Hannah Hampson, will be helping with the annual Poppy Day beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 6.

Several members along with the 2023 Little Miss Poppy Queen Hannah, will be handing out Poppies in honor of our Veterans. Hannah is 7 years old and is the daughter of Jerome and Kelly Hampson of Lancaster. She is a first grade student in Lancaster City Schools and is also involved in dancing. She has four brothers, Seth, Cole, Bret and Zack Hampson.

Hannah is a 7-year Junior Auxiliary Member under her great-grandfather John Sabo. She is very excited to be the 2023 Little Miss Poppy Queen and hope you all will stop by to meet her on Saturday, May 6th at the Circle K in Millersport. Come out and help us support our Veterans.

Unit 637 will also be having its No-Bake Bake Sale during the month of May. Members and anyone else who would like to contribute can make monetary donations to the Auxiliary. Keller Chiropractic groundbreaking

Great things are happening for Dr. Glen Keller & Keller Family Chiropractic, LLC, Millersport. Thursday, April 27, was the groundbreaking gathering to start the addition to the existing clinic. The expansion will be approximately 1,100 square feet to increase the clinic’s ability to serve their patients with their healthcare needs.

Necessary precautions are being taken to ensure the safety of patients and all workers during the construction process. It is asked that the patients give consideration during this time.

Dr. Keller would like to say “Thank You” to all who have helped in making this possible. The clinic will remain open regular office hours Monday-Friday during the construction process, except a few weeks that will be announced at a later date. There will be occasional updates on their website and Facebook page.

Shredding day

Shredding Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, May 5th at the Millersport Village Municipal Building, 2245 Refugee Road, Millersport. There is a limit of five boxes of paper materials.

Board of Education

The Walnut Township Local School Board of Education held a special meeting Monday, April 24. A presentation was given by Superintendent Radulovich concerning the move of the sixth-grade class to the junior/senior high school building beginning with the 2023-2024 school year. A motion to approve the move was tabled until the May Board of Education meeting.

District Treasurer Jill Bradford gave a Review of the Five-Year Forecast and Capital Plan.
