Millersport news: MCT presents 'Once Upon a Mattress'

Come see Millersport Community Theatre’s production of “Once Upon a Mattress” at 7:30 p.m. April 14 and 15 and 2 p.m. April 16. The production will be held in the Millersport School District Auditorium, 11850 Lancaster Street in Millersport. In this musical comedy version of “The Princess and the Pea,” Princess Winnifred is an ungainly, brash girl who competes for the hand of Prince Dauntless, whose domineering mother Queen Aggravain has declared he must marry a “true” princess before anyone else in the kingdom can marry. The show is rated G and is suitable for families and people of all ages. Some Millersport faces you may recognize on the MCT stage are Jeff Dupler, Misty Hoover, Celeste Anderson, and more. Tickets are $15 and are reserved seating, first come first served. Tickets can be bought online at www.mctohio.com or by reserving through millersportcommunitytheatre@gmail.com. They can also be bought at the door depending on availability. House will open 30 minutes prior to showtime. Concessions will be available.

Drug collection and electronics recycling day

A Drug Collection and Electronics Recycling Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22 at the Walnut Township Fire Department, 2435 Blacklick-Eastern Road, Millersport. All are asked to enter through the Broad Street entrance to the firehouse.

Prescription pills and capsules will be collected. No aerosols, inhalers, creams, gels, ointments, powders, patches, suppositories, syringes, or IVs will be accepted. Please black out all personal information in advance.

Electronic items collected include, but not limited to, computers, laptops, printers, cables, mouses, keyboards, discs, electronic clocks, VHS/DVD players, radios, and cell phones. TVs will be collected with a fee of $1.00 per diagonal inch and computer monitors for $5.00 each. Only cash and checks will be accepted as payment for disposal fees.

The Fine and Performing Arts Department of Millersport Junior/Senior High School nominated the following students for “Student of the Month” for the month of February:

Millersport TWIG 13

Millersport TWIG 13 of Fairfield Medical Center met March 20 in the fellowship hall of Millersport United Methodist Church. President Jennifer Kilbarger called the meeting to order. She presented the new program booklets. Those recognized with March birthdays were Missy Clum, Gayle Love, Janet Neeley, and Vivian Crist. Jennifer reported on the profit from the December and February Salsa Sales. Discussion was held on the Spring Homemade Pie Sale with final determination to be made at the April meeting.

Jennifer also reported on the latest Inter-TWIG meeting and the activities of the other TWIGs. A discussion was held on how the TWIG could recruit more members. The TWIG Recognition Night will be held at 5 p.m. April 12 at Crossroads Event Center in Lancaster.

The next meeting of TWIG 13 will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, April 17 in the church fellowship hall. Anyone who is interested in becoming a TWIG member should contact any member.
